In this photographic series, Carrie Mae Weems invites us to explore, at various stages, the life of this particular character portrayed by herself.  Each stage of the story takes place at the kitchen table, which is usually a main player in the home and is multi-faceted in it's functions.  If only kitchen tables could talk...right?  The things we would learn.

The scenes are shadowy, moody, and oftentimes the energy feels heavy.  The photos have a theatrical stillness and are a bit voyeuristic.  I found myself staring at the photos and naturally inserting my own story line from the feeling of familiarity I receive from the characters and the settings.
